Nick Griffin - Desert Island Discs!

From The Daily Star this morning:

KEITH ALLEN MEETS NICK GRIFFIN
Did you know that Nick Griffin, leader of the British National Party, is a big fan of traditional English folk music?

Well, I guess the “traditional English” bit won’t come as a huge surprise, but otherwise, blimey, who’d have thought it, eh? What a quaint and sensitive soul. The jowly BNP chief’s taste in music – which, for the record, also includes old punk bands such as The Clash – crops up tonight in KEITH ALLEN MEETS NICK GRIFFIN (Channel 4, 11.05pm), in which Lily’s dad heads to Brussels for a long-awaited interview.

Allen obviously doesn’t want to turn it into Desert Island Discs, but he cleverly kicks things off on this relatively chatty note in the hope that Griffin (who’s anticipating a stitch-up and has been trying to worm his way out of the whole encounter), might then relax and let himself be grilled on thornier issues. It seems to do the trick

From the Guardian

Keith Allen Meets Nick Griffin 11.05pm, Channel 4
Keith Allen chases down an interview with easy target BNP leader Nick Griffin. He crassly introduces the documentary with daughter Lily's anti-racist song F**k You, then goes on to say some positive things about the BNP for balance. After that, it's off to Brussels to sit pompously at the back of the European parliament playing the ukulele, and to engineer an encounter with Britain's chief bigot. After the initial look-at-me clowning on Allen's part, he does eventually get down to a reasonable interview. Julia Raeside
