Talking to Steve Squire this morning he confirmed that the weekend activity in London netted over £9,000 towards the GLA elections. I believe the deposit is £25,000 so that's a very impressive start indeed.
Meanwhile the Guardian is reporting that the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police is considering banning an EDL demonstration following on from the brutal racial attack on two English lads by a Muslim gang in Hyde. It will be interesting to see whether or not Peter Fahy will go the extra mile and try and put an exclusion order on one of the region's MEPs who plans separate protests next Saturday.
They tried this before in Burnley when I remember telling BBC Radio Five that Nick was unavailable for an interview in Burnley because he was actually banned from entering the town! Not long after this I remember having a bizarre row with the press officer at Greater Manchester Police. At the time he refused to acknowledge that white people could be victims of racial assaults. In fact he was quite taken aback that I would dare to put forward such views. I wonder if he would dare to put over his views at this particular time.
